The field exam is a two-hour, one-on-one exam proctored by the instructor on Day 4 or 5. If you have a scheduling conflict, please see your instructor on day one. We will do our best to accommodate. Under certain circumstances, instructors can schedule field exams at a later date. Should you need to cancel or change your field test time slot, we will make reasonable attempts to accommodate you, but we make no guarantee nor will we provide compensation in the event that we cannot accommodate you.
Students who choose to sit through a BPI training webinar must complete the field training and testing components of the course. We will ask you to join a regularly scheduled BPI training course, in which you would participate in Wednesday-Friday of the training. This would include live field training at a local residence, as well as written and field testing with an Everblue proctor. Please visit the Course Locations page to view the live BPI training courses near you.
During the course, we will demonstrate and train you to use the following tools involved in Building Analyst certification: automatic blower doors, static pressure test kits, combustion analyzers, and gas leak detectors.
Yes, we offer both Building Analyst and Envelope-Shell Professional training, which are the certifications that encompass a home's entire structure and all of its interconnected parts. Everblue also offers training for advanced BPI certifications, such as BPI Weatherization, BPI Multifamily Building Analyst, BPI Heating Professional, and BPI Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Professional.
Yes, your company may qualify to be a BPI Accredited Home Performance Contractor if you employ a minimum of one full-time Building Analyst and one full-time specialty designation (such as an Envelope Professional) according to the work performed. These designations can be held by the same individual. Though there may be additional requirements listed at BPI.org, Everblue can help your company meet the requirement by training you or your employee(s) to be Building Analysts AND Envelope Professionals, and there may be group/multi-course discounts available.
If, after taking our course, you do not pass either the written or field exam, we will work with you to retest the appropriate portion. You will be responsible, however, for the BPI exam fee: $250 for the written exam and $350 for the field exam.
For Courses Longer Than 2 Days:
Cancellations after 5:00pm (EST) 30 days prior to the class start date will receive a refund but be charged a $400 late cancellation fee. No refunds will be made for cancellations received within 7 days of the class start date, or for those who fail to attend the course.
If a student needs to transfer his or her registration to a future offering of this class, Everblue Training Institute can arrange this, provided space is available. If a request to transfer is received more than two weeks before the scheduled class, there will be no fee. For requests received within two weeks of the scheduled class and up to five days prior to the class, there will be a $50 transfer fee. This fee will increase to $175 for any transfer request made within three business days of a scheduled class.
Individual vs company certification
I plan to be an independent Home Energy Auditor, with only myself as an employee. Do I need to submit the forms and complete the checklist for applying for BPI certification for a company?
Individual vs company certification
Thank you for the excellent question Teresa. I would defer to BPI for this inquiry. They will know best how to work with your particular situation.
Thank you,
Teal B.
BPI vs HERS
Is it beneficial to get a HERS Rater certification as well as a BPI certification? Does the BPI Professional have to work through a provider?
Thank you,
B. Martin
BPI vs HERS
Thank you for your inquiry. We recommend attaining certifications from both HERS and BPI to anyone wanting to do energy audits on new and existing construction. Having expertise in both programs will broaden your skills and your marketability. BPI Professionals can work independently if they choose.

Mac Computer
What if I only have a Macintosh computer that does not have windows? Can I complete the course?
Mac Computer
Hello and thank you for your question.
To complete the BPI exam, you will need a PC laptop because of the browser requirements needed to take your exam. For those who do not have PC laptops, either borrowing or renting one would suffice.
Thank you,
Bana
Commercial Buildings
I am a Commercial General Contractor. I want to be able to perform commercial building audits, do you have courses design for these type of audits?
Commercial Buildings
Everblue's BPI Building Analyst course covers home energy auditing only. This is because BPI does not have specific guidelines set at this point for commercial energy auditing. Our Analysts can use a majority of the techniques they learn in this course in commercial settings, however. If you have more specific questions about this, call us at 1-888-204-8735.

Building Analyst Training Course
Is there any where we can get a practice exam or exam prep info?
Building Analyst Training Course
For Everblue's BPI Building Analyst course, there are no online practice exam questions. There is, however, a good amount of pre-course reading material for you to review before taking the course. Also, your instructor can assist you in knowing where to focus your studies for the exam.
Thank you,
Everblue
