Congratulations on expanding your career and becoming an accredited green building professional! By now, you should have taken a LEED exam and earned the title of LEED Green Associate or LEED AP with Specialty. Newly accredited LEED professionals often wonder: What's next?
LEED v3’s arrival in April 2009 brought a number of changes and enhancements along with it, including a new tiered credentialing system known as the Credentialing Maintenance Program (CMP), which requires LEED professionals to complete ongoing continuing education.
If you are satisfied as a LEED Green Associate and do not wish to upgrade to a LEED AP with Specialty, you should go ahead and enroll in a LEED CMP program to maintain your hard-earned credential. If you are a LEED Green Associate who wants to pursue a LEED AP with Specialty designation, you will need to gain LEED Project Experience to become eligible to sit for the LEED AP exam. Once you become a LEED AP with Specialty, you will need to enroll in a LEED CMP program to maintain your credential. For more information, please visit the LEED CMP Explained page.
